Belviq vs Qsymia

Belviq Lorcaserin HCL vs Qsymia

Belviq and Qsymia are new drugs for obesity treatment that went on sale in 2012. Both these drugs are appetite suppressants, available for sale only by a prescription. The exact mechanism of action of Belviq and Qsymia is unknown.

The USA is one of the few countries, where both Qsymia and Belviq are sold.

Obese Americans can buy blister or plastic bottles with:

  • Belviq tablets
  • Qsymia capsules

Identical indications for use is the only similarity between Belviq and Qsymia. These drugs belong to different pharmacological groups; therefore, they have so many fundamental differences.

Each Belviq tablet contains anorexigenic agent Lorcaserin.

Each Qsymia capsule contains anorexigenic agent Phentermine and antiepileptic agent Topiramate.

Abuse Liability

Belviq tablets do not contain any controlled substances. Therefore, drug dependence will not develop if you stick to the dose regimen of Belviq drug.
